Hello!! My  name is Carmela Martinelli and I am the founder of Photobycarm! I am currently 20 years old, and I am based out of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, hoping one day I'll expand to all over, as I love to travel.

Here's a little background information about me  and how I began taking pictures and creating Photobycarm. When I was a little girl, my mom quickly found I was in love with taking pictures. After repeatedly realizing her phone went missing at all hours of the day, for hours on end, she finally figured out it was me who had it each time. Here I was running around our yard, barefoot, snapping pictures of all the things I would see that interested me. From pictures of flowers, to my Pappy's motorcycle, to my baby dolls, I was absolutely obsessed. My mom always knew I was creative and that I was different from a lot of kids my age, that I longed for things most children didn't, and instead of taking that away from me, she encouraged me to embrace it and use it as a lovely escape. And since then I have never stopped loving that escape. 

 

By the time the end of my freshman year of high school came around, I was offered to take a trip to China through my school, and after being picked as one of the six students to go, six of my classmates and three of my teachers and I were off to China! As soon as I realized what this meant for not only me and how I'll grow, but what it meant for my photography, I couldn't believe how lucky I was. When traveling, I knew it was my calling. Traveling to different countries, seeing new places, and meeting new people was something I was falling in love with. Everywhere I went I carried my camera with me, almost always in hand. The streets of China were life changing and I'll forever be thankful for that experience. 

 

As of now, Photobycarm has grown so much from then. I have learned so much about myself, my camera, my clients, my creativity, and what I am capable of. I am proud and excited to be able to watch myself grow in the years to come. My passion for photography will never die, as I will always long to see the beauty in each and every picture I capture. Photography has saved me. It has brought me the most joy, and it has made me realize that I am enough when I have felt just the opposite. Taking pictures makes me feel like I can capture the world as my eyes see, that I am able to relay the beauty that I see to others through one simple picture. I will always ensure that people feel their most beautiful self when they are behind my lens, that they feel themselves and that they are able to let loose and feel free.
